Training

– How to respond to an emergency situation including; identifying & assessing dangers, assessing the casualty, recognising the need for CPR and seeking assistance from emergency services

– How to correctly perform CPR

– How to use an automated external defibrillator (AED)

– How to accurately observe, record and report details of the incident 

– demonstrated safe manual handling techniques

– post incident debrief and evaluation

– Applied first aid procedures for the following:

•allergic reaction/anaphylaxis

•bleeding control

•choking and airway obstruction

•envenomation & the using pressure immobilisation

•fractures, sprains and strains, using arm slings, roller bandages or other appropriate immobilisation techniques

•respiratory distress, including asthma

•poisons

•shock management

Assessment

Practical 1 – Perform 2min of uninterrupted CPR on and adult & an Infant

(adult resuscitation must be completed on the floor) including the use of an AED

Practical 2 – Respond to the following simulated first aid scenarios:

•Asthma

•Allergic reaction

•Fracture

•Envenomation

•Airway obstruction

•Bleeding

•Shock

Written 1 – Complete a workplace incident form
